The MVV Energie CZ Group is the largest energy group in the Czech Republic producing heat from natural gas and geothermal energy (geothermal energy in the town of Dečín was launched in 2002).
The 43%* of our production comes from the combustion of natural gas and 2%* of group’s fuel base contains geothermal energy. The fuel oils we purchase always with a low sulphur content of maximum 1%.

Cogeneration
The combined production of electricity and heating (cogeneration) because of its friendlier approach to the environment is one of the most important instruments of our policy of sustainable development. The MVV Energie CZ Group produces electricity only in cogeneration and is extending production to further towns.
Cogeneration can save up to 30 % of the primary fuel and so in production are reduced the emissions of pollutants, mainly CO2 because of these savings.
Investments
Companies of the MVV Energie CZ Group invest, on a yearly basis, tens of million of Czech crowns to restore their plants. In towns, obsolete heating systems are reconstructed, step by step, and new advance two-pipe distribution systems are installed together with new in-house heat-exchanger stations.
In recent years, extraordinary projects included the source part reinforcement in Uherské Hradiště and expansion of co-generating production to another 4 towns in the Czech Republic. That way, MVV Energie CZ not only increases comfort for its customers, but primarily efficiency of production itself.
Measurements
Measuring instruments to measure continuously the particulate emission, NOx emission, sulfur dioxide emission and carbon mono-oxide emission serve not only to monitor pollutant emission levels, but they also are ale an inseparable part of economical use of the plant in question. Any and all plants are operated by highly skilled, qualified and regularly trained operators being personally responsible that none of emission limits, as given by the regulation amending the air protection law, is to be exceeded.
Disposal
Environmentally friendly and economical disposal of waste is an important consideration of the MVV Energie CZ group. Generated sorted waste is disposed of through specialized companies that are licensed for this activity and guarantee professional disposal and subsequent re-use or recycling.
Wastewater must be disposed of in the most environmentally friendly way. All wastewater is therefore treated before it is released so that no acceptable limits for water courses are exceeded.

Economies
To save resources and thus enhance the environment quality, we use energy policy projects. In 1993, we started to implement these projects using the EPC method and other energy services as pioneers in this field in the Czech Republic.
Among our customers we can found municipalities, housing co-operative associations as well as private companies. It is well-established tradition that we implement our projects in hospitals, schools, swimming pools, ice stadiums, and other city buildings or industrial parks.
