TERMIZO a.s. will dispose of a waste dump at the locality of Arnoltice-Bulovka in the Liberec district originating from illegal business. It consists of mixed plastics and textiles amounting to about 9,000 tons that were transported here in the past and it also appears that part of the waste comes from Germany. The German competent authority for dealing with illegal transport of waste, SAA Sonderabfallagentur Baden-Württemberg GmbH, called a tender for the disposal of the waste which was won by Termizo, part of the business concern MVV Energie CZ in cooperation with the German affiliated company, MVV Umwelt.
The MVV Group is engaged in waste to energy production in the Czech Republic, Germany and Great Britain, and has a wealth of technological and operating experience in combined power and heat generation from waste. TERMIZO a.s. became a member of the MVV Energie CZ Group as of July 2011. According to Ing. Bernát, the chairman of the board of directors of TERMIZO, the illegal dump will be used to generate about 520 MWh of electricity which amounts to the annual consumption of 120 households, and 34,000 GJ of heat which corresponds to the annual consumption of 700 households. TERMIZO will continue to provide services for the needs of the region.
TERMIZO a.s. has utilised municipal waste for the waste-to-energy generation of heat and electricity for households and companies in Liberec since 1999. The facilities of TERMIZO a.s. are technologically associated with Teplárna Liberec, a.s., which is 70% owned by MVV Energie CZ a.s. TERMIZO a.s. became a member of MVV Energie CZ Group in July 2011.
